I would like to mention just a few things about PLIVA as a company. First of |

all, PLIVA is now the largest pharmaceutical company in Central and Eastern |
| 8 |
|
|
Europe according to sales and that in itself is a major accomplishment for a |
| 9 |
|
|
company in just over one decade since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Secondly, |
| 10 |
|
|
our very own macrolide antibiotic, azithromycin, both researched and developed |
| 11 |
|
|
in house here at PLIVA, is now one of the leaders on the global market with |
| 12 |
|
|
sales continuing grow both under license (Zythromax) and under our own brand |
| 13 |
|
|
name (Sumamed). Finally, PLIVA, as a company, continues to grow and develop |
| 14 |
|
|
and has become a global player in the pharmaceuticals industry with subsidiaries |
| 15 |
|
|
and sales offices not only throughout Europe but around the globe as well. </p> |

the president of PLIVA's management board, I am very proud of the company's |

accomplishments, but most of all, I am proud of the people here at PLIVA who |

have made all these things possible. It was the innovation and commitment of |

scientists and technicians in PLIVA's Research Institute that brought about |
| 21 |
|
|
the discovery of azithromycin, and today PLIVA's scientists have begun clinical |
| 22 |
|
|
trials for a number of new drugs and are developing over 40 new generic drugs. |
