As the leading pharmaceutical company in the region, PLIVA has received with |

great concern the news about the sudden deaths of patients who were dialysed |
| 11 |
|
|
in hospitals.<br> |

Upon receiving the information, PLIVA has, in cooperation with the Ministry |
| 14 |
|
|
of Health of the Republic of Croatia, undertaken all necessary precautions |
| 15 |
|
|
and has started a broad-scale analysis of all the elements of this tragic |
| 16 |
|
|
situation. Our first and foremost concern in doing so is to protect patients |
| 17 |
|
|
and determine all the facts.<br> |

PLIVA immediately established a crisis centre and is in ongoing contact with |
| 19 |
|
|
the Ministry of Health.<br> |

PLIVA is a manufacturer of solutions used for hemodialysis treatment. Yesterday |
| 22 |
|
|
and today we have analysed these solutions and the results rule out the possibility |
| 23 |
|
|
of these solutions being the cause of the deaths.<br> |

Apart from manufacturing solutions, PLIVA imports dialysers produced by the |
| 26 |
|
|
US company <a href="http://www.baxter.com">Baxter</a> |
| 27 |
|
|
. Baxter is one of the two leading dialyser manufacturers in the world. PLIVA |
| 28 |
|
|
has been cooperating with Baxter for 12 years and during that time there |
| 29 |
|
|
have never been any difficulties. Baxter delivers the dialysers to PLIVA |
| 30 |
|
|
in unit packages with quality certificates. It delivers 180000 dialysers |
| 31 |
|
|
to PLIVA annually. PLIVA has immediately requested Baxter’s experts to arrive |
| 32 |
|
|
and they are expected in Zagreb today.<br> |

PLIVA is actively participating in solving this crisis, which it is taking |
| 35 |
|
|
very seriously, and in its further activities PLIVA will insist on having |
| 36 |
|
|
all the circumstances of these tragic events determined and will cooperate |
