PLIVA's scholarships for the most talented students in Croatia,
the Czech Republic and Poland

Zagreb, 2 October 2001

One of the activities organised by PLIVA to mark its 80th anniversary is granting
scholarships to the most talented students in Croatia, Poland and the Czech
Republic. In Croatia, scholarships will be given to undergraduates in their
final year of studies at the Faculty of Science - Department of Chemistry, Faculty
of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Biochemistry,
Faculty of Economy and Faculty of Law. PLIVA's subsidiaries in Poland and Czech
Republic, PLIVA Krakow and PLIVA-Lachema, will grant the scholarships to students
of those universities that directly correlate with the current needs of each
company. According to the criteria for the scholarships, the students are expected
to have enrolled in their fifth semester, have above average marks (4.0 and
higher) and proficiency in English. All information regarding the scholarships
will be available on www.pliva.hr.

In line with the latest trends and the fact that people and their skills are
acknowledged as the greatest resource, for years PLIVA has been supporting the
most talented students of related fields of expertise. After graduating, the
students join PLIVA's interdisciplinary teams that work in a multinational environment.
As is the case with other PLIVA employees, they get the possibility to advance
professionally and personally, gain experience in broad areas of work and develop
their career. Earlier this year, PLIVA, as a pharmaceutical company that operates
on the global markets and is a domestic producer in several CEE countries, launched
an International Mobility Program. The goal of the project is to develop competencies
to work in different environments and for that purpose the participants of the
program move and work for six months at PLIVA's other locations in Krakow, Brno,
Prague and Zagreb. The program is well accepted by employees and managers alike
and is perceived as a facilitator of integration processes.

Among the other activities and events planned to celebrate PLIVA's 80th anniversary,
we would like to announce the annual "Vladimir Prelog Organic Chemistry Award"
for young Croatian scientists to be held on 16th October, and the international
Scientific Forum that will be held on 23rd November to mark 65 years of continuous
in-house research in PLIVA.
